What you're booking
Ka Moana Luau is a dinner and show held at Aloha Tower Marketplace on Honolulu Harbor. Every package includes a lei greeting, cultural activities before dinner, a farm-to-table buffet and the Polynesian revue, which ends with a Samoan fire knife dance. The operator's package lists show the same activities and buffet across all three, and only the lei, drinks, seating and service change. That makes the choice simpler than it looks. Decide how much a better seat and table service are worth to you, rather than which show to see.
Classic, Splash and Celebrity compared
Classic is the base package. Splash adds a second drink and moves you to the mid-level seating section. The operator also sells a Splash upgrade that swaps the shell lei for a fresh flower lei and gives closer seating within the Splash section. Celebrity sits in the premiere section and adds a fresh flower lei, a welcome mai tai, a souvenir gift and table service at dinner.
- Classic: shell lei, one drink, Classic seating
- Splash: shell lei, two drinks, mid-level seating
- Celebrity: fresh flower lei, two drinks plus a welcome mai tai, premiere seating, table service, souvenir gift
Is Celebrity worth it?
It depends on what you value. Premiere is the seating the operator pairs with its top package, so a closer view is the main reason to upgrade. Dinner table service and the welcome mai tai are extras on top of that. If the show matters more to you than the seat, Classic or Splash gets you the same evening. Think about your group. A better view matters more if anyone is short, if you are celebrating an occasion, or if you simply want less distance between you and the performers. For a quick night out, Classic is enough.
How seating works
The operator's seating chart shows sections, not tables. You are seated somewhere in the section for your package, and the operator decides where using your booking date and party size. If you are joining another group, the operator's site says you can enter the other party's last name when you book so you are seated together, or ask the operator afterwards. Because the choice is the operator's, no package guarantees a specific table. If a particular view matters, contact the operator before the night using the details on its official site.
Booking direct or through a platform
The operator sells the same packages on its own site, where cancellations go through the operator. Its terms give a refund only with at least 24 hours' notice, and no-shows and late cancellations pay the full cost. Booking through GetYourGuide lets you cancel for free up to 24 hours before for a full refund, and reserve now and pay later. Another route: the operator's FAQ says Ka Moana Luau is a premium attraction on Go City all-inclusive passes of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7 days, with its own booking link for pass holders.
Transport: shuttle or your own way
The operator offers round-trip transport as an add-on from several pickup points in Waikiki and Honolulu. You choose a "with transportation" option on the booking calendar, and the closest pickup point is assigned from your accommodation at checkout. You can also view pickup options when you check availability on the booking page. If you drive, valet parking is available at the marketplace, and the operator asks self-drivers to check in by 4:45 pm. Parking, the bus and the return trip are covered in our practical guide.

The lei greeting
Every package starts with a lei at the gate: a shell lei for Classic and Splash, and a fresh flower lei for Celebrity or the Splash upgrade. A lei is a garland given to honour someone, often as a greeting or farewell. Aloha Tower's own history describes lei sellers and hula dancers meeting passenger ships at this harbour on Boat Days, a tradition that lasted until the jet age of the 1950s. Treat the lei as a gift. Wear it through the evening and don't throw it away casually, because tradition returns a fresh lei to the earth.
Drinks and dietary needs
Every package includes water, juice, coffee and tea, plus drink tickets for soft drinks, beer, wine or mixed drinks, with the number depending on the package. Extra drinks and the souvenir photo cost more. For dietary needs, the operator's dinner menu page marks which buffet items are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, soy free, nut free and dairy free. It also says the menu can change without notice, and that shared kitchens mean it cannot guarantee any dish is free of allergens. If you have an allergy, contact the operator before you book.
When to book
The operator lists performances Sunday to Friday, so there is no Saturday show. The luau runs rain or shine, and the operator contacts guests if weather forces a cancellation, with a full refund when the operator cancels. Because free cancellation runs until 24 hours before, you can reserve a date early and cancel at no cost if plans change. The booking calendar shows which dates are open, and your confirmation shows the schedule for your date.
Who this isn't for
Skip it if you want a traditional underground-oven feast: the programme the operator describes doesn't include one. Skip it if you want a quiet dinner, because the show invites guests to take part. Skip it if your only free night is a Saturday, because there is no performance then. And if you need a meal that is free of every allergen, the shared kitchens mean the operator can't guarantee that.
